My Philosophy
I believe that literacy is the great equalizer, opening doors to everything, creating possibilities for all. This mindset keeps me engaged in the craft of teaching. As a result, my enthusiasm and curiosity for teaching literacy continue to grow. I follow structured literacy language teaching principles, using explicit, direct, systematic, multisensory, and sequential instruction. In addition, I individualize the content, approach, and intensity of each lesson according to a student's needs and emotional stamina.
My goal is for my students to gain confidence in reading, writing, and spelling, as well as become true self-advocates, inside and outside the classroom, as they recognize their talents and gifts and become the best version of themselves.
Having children or adolescents transform from struggling students into motivated, curious learners is a tremendously gratifying experience. Through innovative, structured literacy lessons that encourage thinking and sharing, students build the skills needed to succeed, develop self-confidence, and become capable, lifelong learners.
